A Slight Change In Plans

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Hi, everyone! As some of you may have heard, there is a major reorganization taking place at Avon right now with some (mostly) behind-the-scenes changes. Most of these changes will not directly affect customers and should ultimately make for a better shopping experience for you, but during this transition, there may be a few little bumps in the road. I'll be posting updates here to let you know about a few changes which may be of interest.

Here's one for local customers:
I've recently learned that as a part of Avon's current reorganization, I'm being placed in a new district. This will NOT affect your service from me except that my delivery schedule for local customers will shift by one week, beginning with Campaign 10. So I WILL SUBMIT MY NEXT ORDER TO AVON NEXT MONDAY, APRIL 30th rather than the following Monday!

And for online customers:
We' ve been informed that much of the Avon computer system will be down for a huge overhaul related to redistricting from April 25 - 29. During this time representatives will not be able to submit orders or process returns or access customer service, so customers may experience temporary delays in service. Everything should be pretty much back to normal by Monday, April 30 (when I place my C-10 order). I apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

FRIDAY FIND: AVON Lip Balm!

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Such a tiny little unassuming product, but time after time people tell me they LOVE Avon Lip Balms and wish they had tried them sooner!  They come in a variety of different types: some flavored and some unflavored, some tinted and some clear. I'm partial to Care Deeply with Aloe (which is unflavored and untinted), but I also like the Moisture Therapy LIp Balm, which has an SPF of 15.

AVON Lip Balms are great for men and women and can be worn alone or under lipstick. The best part is how smoothly they apply and how wonderful that feel on your lips! As far as I'm concerned, there's really no comparison between Avon lip balm and that name brand for chapped lips you can find at the drug store, but you don't have to take my word for it. You'll find 10 different Avon lip balms on sale for only 79 cents in this campaign, so you can try one for yourself! Four of them are even in special spring packaging--perfect for adding to an Easter basket!

FRIDAY FIND: Glimmersticks (eye, brow, and lip liners)

Friday, March 02, 2012

This Week's FRIDAY FIND:
Glimmersticks retractable, self-sharpening eye liner
Half Price: $3.49

This is certainly not a new product, but it's one you'll want to know about if you don't already. Glimmersticks are not only Avon's most popular eyeliner, I believe it is accurate to say that they are still THE most popular eyeliner in the country!  I'm not surprised, because it's a great product, but I confess that I think the name and the description are a tad confusing for some customers.

First of all, with the exception of Glimmersticks Diamonds, which are sparkly, Glimmersticks don't "glimmer." I've had customers looking for a good basic eyeliner who were reluctant to try these because they thought (logically, based on the name) that the product might be too shiny for them, and they could end up looking like a glow worm, but that is not the case. Most Glimmersticks are NOT shiny, but if beautiful shine is what you are looking for, check out Glimmersticks Diamonds.

The other confusing thing is the word "self-sharpening"
in the description. I realize that in advertising you have to say things in very brief terms, but it would be more accurate to explain that these liners do not require a sharpener. They don't actually sharpen themselves, however, rather you twist to advance the product, which will not be a super sharp point, but by using it at an angle you can bring it to a fairly fine edge.

In spite of these minor marketing quibbles, if you want a really good, easy-to-apply liner that's soft enough to not to drag too much on your skin and that you can also use to do a "smokey eye" if you want, by gently smudging the line a bit after you apply it, and which comes in a nice assortment of colors and doesn't require a sharpener, this is the liner for you.

In fact, Glimmersticks also come in a brow pencil and a lip liner (and both the eye liner and brow pencil come in waterproof and regular versions). The waterproof has a little better staying power; the regular is a bit easier to remove, just as you would expect. All are highly recommended.

This is one of those products that every woman should have in her makeup kit, IMHO. It's a great deal even at the full price of $7, but right now (in Campaign 6) they are half price--only $3.49!  So if you'd like to grab another color or an extra one of your favorite, this is a good time to do that.
